Have you heard of Extra Life?

Extra Life is a community of gamers (of all types - tabletop, video, role-playing, etc.) that have a shared mission of raising money to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.   The community has been around since 2008 and every year the number of participants grows.  George Jaros, from GJJ Games, has been a part of this community since 2016 and organizes the largest known tabletop game auction in the world for Extra Life at https://CharityAuction.bid/2021ExtraLife-GJJGames

Crowdfunding Together takes a look at different projects that our authors have deemed interesting or that need a second look for various reasons. Each author will take a look at some of the crowdfunding projects that they’ve found to highlight and bring to our reader’s attention.

Matt Holden of the Indie Game Alliance joins us for an advice post about first-time creators on Kickstarter. The Indie Game Alliance is a professional organization made of publishers who have united to bring buying power and community to indie publishers and creators. You can learn more about the Indie Game Alliance HERE.

If you are a first-time creator:

* Don't do a deluxe edition.

* Don't do an add-on.

* Don't do Kickstarter exclusives.

* Don't discount your MSRP on Kickstarter.

Just. Don't.

These things were invented by companies MUCH bigger than you, with MUCH bigger reach and buying power than you, because they know their fans had *options* other than buying their game from Kickstarter. CMON for example - I know all of their games are going to be at my favorite FLGS or deep discounter a week after they ship, and I can get it then and keep the money in my pocket in the meantime.
